We’ve Moved!!

After 4 awesome years at our “new” location at 35 South Broad Street, we moved in November and are now open at our new-new location, 283 North Broad Street, just three tenths of a mile from where we have been in the heart of Brevard. Our new location is in the same strip of shops as Sunrise Cafe, Pescados, the White Squirrel Arcade, and more, right across from the main entrance to Brevard College. We have more bright and airy room, comfy seats for sit n stitch, and most importantly, free parking right outside!

We look forward to helping you in our new location, where our hours continue to be Tuesday-Saturday 10-5.

Events, Classes, and Sit 'n' Stitch Times

Meeting in Person: Sit n Stitch & Group Classes

.

Check our calendar for specific days and times for events.

Regular gathering times:

Sit n stitch at the shop, in person:

Every Wednesday 10am-12pm, Saturday 1-4pm.

This is for community gathering time, not instruction and lesson time. If others at the table can assist, wonderful! Help from Rebecca during this time will fall under the emergency help rates, we encourage you to come to drop in help Fridays or make an appointment.

Drop-in help time/sit and work on projects with assistance:

Every Friday, 10am-12pm, 2pm-4pm. Bring your current project for help! No appointment needed, $25/session. This is a great time to ask Rebecca as many questions as time permits!

**************************************************************

In-Person Group Classes, Contact the shop to reserve your spot:

Most classes $30/session for multiple sessions. Group class fees cover 2 sessions of 1-2 hours each as the optimal time to engage the brain, provide time for progress between sessions, as well as one Drop-in help session if needed. If classes lend themselves to one session or more than two, fees will be higher or lower, and one follow-up help during a drop in help time is still included.

Please sign up in advance for classes directly with me by emailing rebecca@sundragonartandfiber.com or calling the shop (828-877-3550). I will let you know if there is space in the class. Class fees cover instruction only unless specified. Ideally each class will be limited to 4 students. If you are not able to attend both sessions, the class fee is still the same, please consider this when signing up: we will work with you to schedule another meeting time if possible.

At this time we do not have the capacity for virtual classes.

The strength of the Sun Dragon

The name Sun Dragon comes from a recent Christmas present from my nephew, a 9 year old genius with origami.  He made everyone individualized origami dragons with descriptions specific to the person.  My message read: “if you were a dragon in my origami world I think you would be a sun dragon.  Sun dragons are very active and creative.” He recognized my passion for fiber work (I knit or crochet all my gifts and have for years). This message has resonated with me: I have embraced this notion, and wish to make others active, creative individuals as well.   Sun Dragon Art & Fiber combines my artistic expertise with my nephew’s passion for art and creativity, offering instruction and supplies in yarn, knitting and crochet notions, paint, origami, papercrafts, adult coloring books, and other artful forms of expression.

For the love of Creativity

Rebecca Smith has been involved in the arts & crafts world her entire life, though has recently moved to make her passion her life's work. She has been a skilled knitter for over a dozen years, with crochet following right behind. Engagement and training in the fine arts dates back to her early years, from art classes to theater set work. For the past 18 years she has been an educator of all age groups in private schools up and down the east coast. For instruction and guidance in all things fiber (yarn) and creativity, look no further!

In every school she has taught at, Rebecca has also had a hand in the technical theater programs, with a concentration in scenic painting. Her years working with art and theater instruction have prepared her well to stock the art supply section of Sun Dragon with a solid range of foundational tools and media.
